Sales Information

It's time to say goodbye to 'ole #88. It's now honestly for sale. In the past, I've told people that it was for sale but never actually wanted it to go down the road. It's been a great ride, but with most things, there comes a time when "been there, done that" seems appropriate.

The other day, I went up to the shop to work on the MINI. I pulled the cover off, opened a beer and sat in a chair looking for something that needed to be done. All mechanicals were fresh or just one or two races old. The body looked great with a recent buff and wax for the Minneapolis car show. Oil was changed, brakes bled, fuel filter replaced, all nuts and bolts had been checked and underside had been wiped down with mineral spirits. O' sure, I could have touched up a few rock chips or thrown a coat of wax on the bottom, but there were no projects worth spending a night at the shop. A little voice told me that if you are going to sell it, this is the time. "Sell it" "Sell it."

So, here it is folks. For Sale - The fastest, most reliable, best documented, cleanest and safest, best handling... legal vintage Cooper S race car. This rather shameless description does have some caveats. There are faster, but not vintage legal. There are more reliable, but not the front runners. I know of one other with homologation papers, but it's a rat. There are one or two cleaner but they did not start out as race cars. Safer, this one's built to current SCCA safety specs. Legal drivetrain, very few and none as fast. Best handling, period. When I bought #88 10 years ago, all of the above were my goals... and it took all of the10 years to get there. So the above ain't bragging it's just goal setting and fulfillment of those goals.

Money. So let me see. $36,000 invested, 2500 hours of building and refining, a great enclosed trailer, spares... is $32,000 too much? I guess you could buy one for half as much and then spend the other half making it reliable, fast and all the other stuff. ...nuff said, it's 32 grand.

Hey, and if you got time I'll be at Blackhawk this weekend to get the cob webs out and wear the stickers off the new tires.
